Ciáran O'Connell apointed Membership Development Officer
Date: Apr 27, 2012 29 year old Clare native Ciaran O ‘ Connell has been recently appointed to the new post of Membership Development Officer, with Ireland's Event and Community Festival Association A.O.I.F.E. Ciaran is an honours science graduate from the Limerick Institute of Technology and originally worked in project management before moving into the Events and Marketing sectors. He has spent over 5 years working with Ground 4, a nationally focused Marketing Agency and counts seven seasons of progression with l the Rose of Tralee - as a volunteer and contracted event producer for the past four years. He has extensive travel behind him - covering most of Europe on an InterRail Trip in the early noughties and having taken a sabbatical 1 8 months to back pack around the world. He will work alongside Executive Director Colm Croffy and Network Development Officer Claire Heskin based out of the offices in the Town Hall Theatre Ballinasloe but with a countrywide remit. Commenting on his appointment AOIFE Chair Miriam Dunne of Waterford Spraoi stated " We are really looking forward to revitalising the sector in preparation of our 20th Anniversary next year, the gathering and all the other exciting projects we are developing. and see Ciaran's new role as key, to animating our sector and our 19th Conference in Ballinasloe this November , we wish him well". " I have seen first hand festival and event activity at home and abroad and am looking forward to this challenge to support the really extraordinary work that the Irish festival groups do in these challenging times" , said Ciaran .
