Students want to work at your Festival
At Leeds Metropolitan University, we have experienced in 2009/10 a record intake of high quality Events Management students who will be seeking work placement opportunities in 2010/11. You may already be aware that we have developed a number of well regarded vocational courses, delivered by tutors with relevant industrial experience. As part of their study we actively encourage our students to gain practical work experience through both paid work and volunteering. We encourage all of our students to gain valuable real life experience by working in industry for periods up to 1 year alongside event practitioners. This has proved to be both beneficial and very successful for all involved with many students working for the same employer in their vacations; after graduating students have often returned to the same employer to start their careers.

We are presently seeking placements, work based learning and volunteering opportunities and we are inviting expressions of interest. , I would like to invite you to once again work with the Leslie Silver International Faculty in 2010/2011. If you would like to be considered, without committing yourself, simply click here to contact us. If you leave a brief message with your contact details my colleagues Sarah Evans will send you further details and will contact you to arrange a convenient time to discuss how a placement may be of benefit to you.

If you have a more immediate need then feel free to contact me to check current student availability.

Your support, encouragement and guidance will be of enormous benefit to the next generation of professionals wishing to embark on a career within the industry. If you have hosted placements in the past I hope that you feel you have also benefited, and that you will be happy to participate again.

While the students are required to complete a total of 48 weeks in total I appreciate that in the present economic climate you may not be able to offer such a long term commitment. However, any experience you may be able to provide within a framework of 1-9, 12, 24, 36 or 48 week blocks, would be greatly appreciated.

Our students will be available to start the placement from June/July 2010. Please note the final decisions whether to appoint or not remains yours.

We look forward to the opportunity of working with you in the future. If you require any further information I or my colleagues can be contacted on 0113 812 6718.
